Easter

On Easter we decided to go to the 8:00 service to make room at the 9:30, but that meant we would be in a bit of a rush to get out the door and would have to save Easter baskets until after church. Everything was out on the table but I put a towel over both baskets to keep them hidden until we returned.

On the way to church we had this little conversation:

Stacey III: Hey Mom, maybe the Easter bunny left us some new bullets. (nurf gun bullets)
Me: What would make you say that?
Stacey III: Well...our old bullets are lost and some of them are broken.
Me: (suspicious) Well, maybe. We'll have to wait until we get home to find out.

Pause

Stacey III: And maybe the Easter bunny left us a little dump truck.
Me: (Very suspicious now) Um, did you peek at your Easter basket???
Stacey III: Yes :)

Little stinker!

That egg hatched Lightning McQueen!

We snapped a quick pic...well that is a lie, we took about 10 and this was the only one worth posting. Then we headed to Shelley and Geoff's for Easter lunch with the Smiths and Woodburys.
More pictures.

Cousins. Oh Truey I love you in your matchy matchy big boy shirt! :)
And this precious bit!
Aunt Sarah and T-bird, getting a little sleepy.
Nannie and Big with their fan club.

We told Wyatt to stand up and put his hands on Big and Nannie. He took our instructions very seriously and I love his Olan Mills style. ;)
Egg Hunt - Stacey had just found the very sneakily hidden (as promised by Daddy) bunny egg he'd been searching for.
Lots of loot.
What a wonderful holiday weekend!
We enjoyed numerous egg hunts, parties and great time with all our family this month, but more than anything, as always (but especially on Easter) I am overwhelmed by my Savior's sacrifice and the ultimate gift given for me...for ME! Death couldn't handle him and the grave couldn't hold him - THAT'S MY KING!! The tomb is empty and He is risen, He is risen indeed.

Oh Lord, that I would be as aware of your gift every day throughout the year as I am during this precious Easter season.

Take Me Out To The Ball Game...

My posts have been a little out of order, the first thing we did when we got to Waco on Thursday was head to this rock-stars first baseball game. He is SO good.
The fans were exited about the game,
and about seeing each other!

The game was a Broughton Field and brought back a lot of memories. The kids loved running around and playing in the dirt. They were filthy but oh so happy.
But the real attraction was my nephew, Ryan Wood exhibiting his baseball skills for all to see.
One of many runs he contributed to the victory.
I'm so glad it worked out for us to be at this game, I have a feeling it is going to be a great season for the Twins.

Mr. and Mrs. Bunny

Be afraid.

State Flower

Normally I wouldn't pull over on the side of the highway pile my children out of the car in their Sunday best and start snapping photos, but when you add a patch of bluebonnets to the mix that scenario becomes a completely second nature southern tradition!! So on Sat. that's just what we did.

Easter Party

If you look closely you can catch a glimpse of the Purdy girls gone western in the background of this picture, at least two of them - HA!

With a little less western flair I got to host an Easter Party with my favorite girls in the whole world on Friday! And by host I really mean drive into town and just enjoy all their preparations!

The boys were thrilled about hanging with their cousins and having a party!

Honey and GP were gracious enough to let us have the shindig at their house, GP even made burgers for everyone - you guys are just the best!! Thankfully the rain held off long enough for us to have the egg hunt and enjoy the backyard the whole time.
Kacey giving instruction on dyeing eggs.

And then, drum roll....she pulled out the big guns and arranged for the EASTER BUNNY to make an appearance at the par-tay!!
The kids were priceless watching the Easter Bunny, and learning the bunny hop.
What a treat!
I had so much fun catching up with friends and enjoying watching all our kiddos play together.
I can not believe how old these two are getting!!!! Landon and Caroline were born just a few weeks apart and were the first babies from my high school girlfriends. I seriously feel like just yesterday we were ooing and awing over them just home from the hospital.
Fast friends, Charley and Wyatt. These two could be trouble together ;)I'm thinking we may have ourselves a little good Friday tradition, so if you find yourselves in Waco next Easter get ready to party.

Before & After

I've had this collection of frames, many from Granny Liz's house, sitting in my closet for months and I was finally able to give them the facelift I had been envisioning. They started like this:
And after a little spray-paint look like this!!
They could use some touch ups, but chances are they'll never get any and better yet chances are you won't be in my bedroom examining them anytime soon. :)

After much arranging and rearranging they are hanging over our bed. I've slowly been trying to transform our room from a lifeless catchall to a little more inviting space. I got a bedskirt several moths ago and new lampshades for my birthday so little by little.

These two display models are my favorite part of any space. They require a little more love than spray-paint can offer, but I'm up for the challenge.

Haircut

Wyatt got a real haircut last week from Mrs. Ronda, Nannie and Cassie's long time stylist. He loved being the center of attention at the salon and I loved having someone who actually knows what they are doing cut this mop tops hair.

Parkway Hills Hunt

I got to go with Stacey's class on Tuesday for their spring field trip and easter egg hunt. I was locked and loaded with my camera a fresh new UV filter (I had no idea what that even was last week) and case ready for the beautiful spring outing. I went to take my first picture and quickly realized I had left the memory card at home...wamp wamp. Luckily old faithful was in my purse so I was still able to capture some pictures.

On your mark - get set - go!! It was more like an egg race than an egg hunt. Stacey is coming over the hill in blue slicky pants.

A perfect dozen.
Yep, yours look good too.
Such a precious little class.
The weather was beautiful and I enjoyed every minute, but, I have a new found appreciation for Mrs. Carol who keeps up with these little balls of energy every week! Phew, I was worn out!
