Monster Mash

This is Wyatt who loves soccer. He's the same kid who cried last season because he couldn't be on Stacey's team, the same kid that asked all year when he would get to play soccer, the same kid that told anyone who would listen that he was playing soccer this year, the same kid that wants to wear his uniform every day. Wyatt loves soccer.
So on Saturday when he was scheduled to play his first REAL LIVE SOCCER GAME on his very own soccer team, The Monsters, we were all smiles.

And then the game started. And the tears started.
And our soccer enthusiast became a soccer statue and stood on the field crying and refusing to move. He wouldn't even kick the ball on a kick off or free kick!Really Wyatt?? Really??
Let me just say that we are well aware that three year old soccer is like herding cats and wondering aimlessly around the field or getting hot or distracted or whatever the case may be are all part of the drill - those are things we are fine with. But just standing there crying for NO reason - WHAT!?! NOTHING we said or did, no encouragement, water break or bribe seemed to make a dent. So we just ate our humble pie and tried to defuse our frustration.

We've been talking a lot about our attitude and a happy heart and trying our best and of course reminding him tirelessly that THERE IS NO CRYING IN SOCCER! ;) We're keeping our fingers crossed for better luck next time, otherwise it may be a long season for this little Monster and his Monster family.

Monster Mash! Can't believe the tears - too much anticipation! Always so surprising when those kids take a turn for their emotions. Maybe next week he'll follow in his mother's footsteps and become the soccer star he was born to be....

so sad.. anna did the same thing once in her ballet recital when she had just turned 3. She would participate in all of the classes with no problems, but when everyone was watching she literally froze. It was crazy! I bet the next game will be totally different.

Stop it right now! Sweet thing has to be the cutest one out there. I have to be honest...I was SO impressed that he was so excited and that yall were putting him in soccer. I was wishing that Barrett had that kind of excitement. Makes me feel a tiny bit better about Barrett's attitude. I have no doubt he'll find his inner Beckham next week!

I just cannot believe little Wyatt did that!! It's always so strange when our kiddos have reactions different than we expect:). I bet he loves it this week, now that you're prepared for the tears!

OH MY STARS.....can I just say that I am SHOCKED! Brad will be shocked as well. He still is a soccer stud and we just need to get that boy to "dry it up" as I tell my kids and out there scoring some goals! I love his cute little self no matter how many tears are shed this season! Go Monsters!
