May 2008

This has been a great month (much of which is outlined below) filled with lots of firsts, several lasts and quite a few celebrations. First of all the firsts: Wyatt took his first steps and got his first haircut, we had our first swim of the season and first trip to the lake. The lasts were a little harder...last small group, last Shoreline and last "Monday" dinner with our friends Katy and Sean who are moving to Waco. And of course the celebrations...Mothers Day, baptism, a few more 30th birthdays (Sean, Carrie, Lauren, Keith, Kathi) and graduations - with a few still to come this weekend and next month. All in all a wonderful month with a lot to be thankful for.

I'm not sure how to do a slide show on here just yet...? But if you'd like to see some of our favorite pictures from this month you can click below for my snapfish pictures.

Memorial Day

We had a GREAT time this weekend at Granny Liz's house at Lake LBJ. Stacey LOVES getting to play with his cousins Ryan and Ally and we love hanging with our family. The lake is one of my favorite places in the world and I have endless childhood memories in that backyard so it is fun to see the next generation enjoying the same things we did. Kacey, my little sister is pregers and it was the first time we had had any quality time together since she shared the news. We were tired when we came home and reminded once again that vacation with two under two is rarely restful, but so worth it.

Don't Drown Daddy!!

One On One Time

Last Wednesday Nannie (My Mother-In-Law - who is amazing and keeps the boys ALL the time) kept Wyatt so that Stacey and I could go swimming with some friends and then out to dinner. I have had great quality time with Wyatt while Stacey was in MDO this year, but it was really a treat to get to have some time with Stacey where I could give him my undivided attention. He really enjoyed his blue slushy at dinner and got to have donuts and Chick-fil-a (it is hard for 2 year olds to make choices and we were celebrating) before his last day of "school" (MDO) on Thursday.

Mother's Day

For Mother's Day I was invited to a Mother's Day Tea at Stacey's Mothers Day Out. It was pretty sweet. They had made crafts for it all month and were SO proud to show everything to their Moms. I asked Stacey if he wanted to sit in my lap (in the tiny chair) as we had our snacks and tea and he said, no Mommy you sit here, and then went a found himself another chair...such a little gentleman.

First Haircut

Wyatt had his first haircut last week. It was getting a little crazy especially around his ears so it was time, but it made me a little sad because he looked like such a boy afterward. He wasn't exactly still but very cooperative. He has also officially started walking. He is still faster when he crawls but getting steadier every day.

This is a walking action shot

Senior Girls

I've been co-leading a group of girls through Watermark Student Ministries, (www.watermark.org) for the last six years. I started when most of them were 7th graders and on Wednesday we had our last official small group followed by the Senior Breakfast on Saturday morning. It was very bittersweet as we reminisced and celebrated the beautiful women of God they have become.
Every single one of them is amazing and it has been an absolute joy to get to be a part of each of their lives. They honored Karla (my INCREDIBLE co-leader and wonderful friend) and I with scrapbooks that included a personal letter from each of them as well as an all inclusive night out on the town - hotel, dinner movie and spa!! I know right.I have often felt ill equipped and inadequate to lead them, but getting to be a part of each of their lives has been on of God's greatest gifts in my life. I will miss our time together immeasurably, but I am looking forward to the relationships that will continue to grow and hopefully evolve from student and leader to friends.

Our Little Songbird

Stacey really seems to enjoy singing these days and sings along to just about anything...in the car last week he was belting out...It's too late to apologize - Hilarious!! Don't worry we usually keep it tuned to more edited selections, but sometimes you've got to let him cut loose. This is a video of him singing one of his favorites. I took it with my camera so it is dark and blurry, but you get the idea. He learned this song at Mothers-Day-Out and LOVES to sing it. He insists on holding his bible whenever he sings this particular song and since I don't know the actual song I'm not sure if there are more words or verses, but he gets caught up in the loop...My Bible Is Precious To Me, To Me, God's Word, God's Word...I know he is just singing a song, but I hope he is also learning that the Bible is precious and when you're two year old is singing about it, you can't help but feel a little convicted about how "precious" you are treating God's Word. It also doesn't hurt to have some sweet moments like these because believe it or not his days aren't always filled with sweet singing :)
